MARKETSTORM NEWS AND ARTICLES
NETWORKING
Part 2 - Events, meetings and seminars.
by
Duncan McAdams
In previous articles we have
mentioned the need for any businessperson to get out and meet new
people and businesses to encourage personal and professional growth.
Get out of the cave and check out what others are doing. Get practiced
at talking to strangers and build your self-confidence. This helps
you from becoming bored and stale and generally uninteresting which
you're not of course.
At Marketstorm we average a seminar, new business meeting or some
kind of training or event every week to see what other businesses
are all about. This presents an opportunity to introduce our business
and get contact details of a huge range of different people. Keeping
active in business is so important if you wish to grow - and our
growth plan has a strong set of goals that we WILL achieve, I hope
you are the same!
Here is a couple of examples from the month of May
.
- Xtra awards
- guest speaker at a client's seminar
- looked at three network marketing opportunities and learnt about
the power of magnetic fields
- attended a great Lvardas charity fashion event
- Chamber of Commerce entrepreneurs seminar
At the Xtra
awards I learnt that vodka and apple with a few unusual floatie
bits works well. At some point in the evening a work colleague and
I were joined by a last minute arrival who thought as there were
three males we should schmooze with three females in front of us
- so we did! A good time was had and business cards were exchanged.
The Xtra presentation was brilliantly done and congrats to the winners.
Speaking publicly can frighten some or present a relished challenge
for others. Any chance for me to speak up and say my bit is another
way for me to meet and share ideas with others in business. The
company that booked me as a guest speaker was grateful for an outsider
to come and motivate their nation wide agents and I had a great
time expounding the virtues of smart marketing and motivating them
to get on and improve themselves.
The fashion event was fantastic and I took a number of staff members
to mix and mingle. We met up with an old client who promptly called
us the next day to work on his new business venture.
And so it goes
if you are not out there regularly it's a
missed opportunity. Networking does not mean you have to go to boring
events or frighten yourself into a corner thinking "I'm too
nervy".
Make business and getting new business a pleasure - be committed
and you will reap the rewards as we are doing. For June we have
three seminars, nine breakfasts, one personal growth lecture and
that's just the beginning! Feel free to call me or email
if you wish to know more or join us.
